Running Your First Performance Audit

Welcome to PerfBee! This guide will walk you through running your first performance audit using our Performance Boost feature. Performance audits help you identify areas for improvement on your website, leading to better user experiences and improved search engine rankings. This guide is suitable for developers, SEO professionals, and marketers alike.

What You'll Need

  • A PerfBee account (sign up for a free trial).
  • The URL of the website you want to audit.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to the PerfBee Dashboard. Navigate to the PerfBee Dashboard and log in to your account.

  2. Go to the Performance Boost Tab. In the dashboard, click on the "Performance Boost" tab.

  3. Enter the URL. In the designated field, enter the full URL of the webpage you want to audit (e.g., https://www.example.com).

  4. Select Device. Choose whether you want to simulate a Mobile or Desktop device. This will affect the audit results, as mobile devices often have different performance characteristics.

  5. Run the Audit. Click the "Run Audit" button. PerfBee will initiate a Lighthouse audit of your webpage.

  6. Wait for Analysis. PerfBee uses Lighthouse to analyze your page. During this process, it assesses various performance metrics. This may take a few moments.

  7. Review the Results. Once the audit is complete, you'll see a detailed report, including the following:

    • Overall Scores: You'll see scores for four categories: Performance, Accessibility, SEO, and Best Practices. Each category receives a score from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best.
    • Audit Items: Below the scores, you'll find a list of audit items. Each item includes an Impact Level (High, Medium, or Low) indicating the severity of the issue.
    • Recommended Fix: Each audit item will have a recommended fix. This provides specific guidance on how to improve your website's performance.
  8. Credit Consumption. Each performance test (Lighthouse audit) consumes 2 credits from your monthly credit balance. Your remaining credit balance is always visible in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

By following these steps, you can quickly and easily run performance audits on your websites using PerfBee. Regular audits and addressing the identified issues will contribute to a faster, more user-friendly website.
