Scheduling Automated Performance Audits

Regularly monitoring your website's performance is crucial for maintaining a fast and engaging user experience. With PerfBee's Performance Boost feature, you can schedule automated Lighthouse audits to proactively identify and address performance issues. This article will guide you through setting up and managing scheduled audits.

Why Schedule Recurring Performance Audits?

Web performance is not a one-time fix. Your website's performance can fluctuate due to code changes, third-party scripts, or content updates. Scheduling recurring audits allows you to:

  • Catch performance regressions early: Identify issues before they impact your users.
  • Track performance improvements: Monitor the impact of your optimization efforts.
  • Stay ahead of the curve: Ensure your website consistently meets Core Web Vitals best practices.

Setting Up a New Schedule

Scheduled audits are available on the Starter plan and above. Here's how to set one up:

  1. Log in to your dashboard: PerfBee Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Performance Boost tab.
  3. Select the site you wish to monitor.
  4. Click the "Schedule Audit" button.
  5. Choose your desired frequency: daily, weekly, or monthly.
  6. Set alert thresholds: Enter a minimum Lighthouse performance score. You will receive an email notification if the score drops below this value.
  7. Save your schedule.

Frequency Options

You can choose from the following frequency options:

  • Daily: Audits run every day.
  • Weekly: Audits run once a week.
  • Monthly: Audits run once a month.

Email Notifications

PerfBee will send email notifications to your account when a scheduled audit's score drops below your set threshold. This allows you to quickly address any performance issues.

Viewing Audit History

You can view the history of your scheduled runs in the Performance Boost tab. The history shows the last 30 runs per schedule, allowing you to track performance trends over time.

Pausing and Managing Schedules

You can pause a schedule without deleting it. This is useful if you temporarily want to stop monitoring a site without losing your settings. To pause or resume a schedule:

  1. Go to the Performance Boost tab.
  2. Locate the schedule you want to manage.
  3. Click the pause/resume button.

Credit Cost Planning

Each scheduled audit run consumes 2 credits, the same as a manual audit. Be sure to factor this into your credit usage. Your credit balance is always visible in the top-right of your dashboard. Remember that your credit balance resets monthly on your billing date. See the PerfBee Documentation for details on credit costs and plans.
