Scripts: What Third-Party Scripts Cost Your Pages

3 min read · Updated Oct 21, 2026

Size and main-thread time of every tag, widget and service on your pages, from your performance tests, and the scripts that no longer load. Every plan.

The Scripts tab shows what tags, widgets and services from other companies cost your pages: how much each one downloads, how long it keeps the browser busy, and which Google tags it loads. It also lists scripts your pages still ask for that no longer load. Viewing it is on every plan and costs no credits.

Open Site Crawler, then Scripts, and pick a site from My Sites. Switch between Mobile and Desktop at the top.

Where the numbers come from

From your performance tests. A test loads the page in a real browser with Google Lighthouse, so tags that Google Tag Manager adds after the page loads are counted too. A crawl of the HTML cannot see those, which is why the tab does not use the crawl for them.

For each page of the site, the tab uses its newest test from the last 90 days and adds them up. Lighthouse names each service; PerfBee groups it by kind, such as tag manager, analytics, advertising, cookie consent or chat. A service Lighthouse does not know is named by its domain.

The more kinds of page you test, the more the tab can tell you: test a product, a category and an article as well as the homepage, or monitor one page per template on a schedule in Performance Boost. Each performance test costs credits as usual.

Reading the table

  • Pages: on how many tested pages the service loaded.
  • Downloaded: the bytes it transferred on its heaviest page, with the median across pages.
  • Main-thread time: how long the browser was busy running its code while the page loaded, on a mid-range phone for Mobile. Busy main-thread time delays clicks and taps.
  • Loads: for Google Tag Manager, the Google tags it loads, for example "3 Google Ads, 2 Google Analytics 4". Tags left over from old campaigns often show up here.
  • Files: the service's heaviest files on that page.

Tests run before this tab existed are read the first time you open it, ten at a time. If the tab says older tests are still being read, refresh it.

Scripts that no longer load

This list comes from your crawls: scripts the pages still ask for that answer an error, with how many pages ask for them. Each one costs a wasted request on every page view, and is often code an app or campaign left behind. Remove the tag from your theme or tag manager.
